RN to BSN Curriculum Guide

The online RN to BSN degree program comprises 30 credit hours and is designed for licensed RNs with an associate degree or diploma.

Students must have completed the general education requirements set by the University in order to earn their bachelor's degree and may transfer in 90 hours of eligible credits for this program.

Corequisite Courses

The following courses must be completed to graduate from UL Lafayette. Transfer credit may be awarded for courses taken at U.S. regionally accredited colleges and universities and may fulfill corequisite requirements.

Tuition for corequisite courses is different from RN to BSN tuition, which is based on the 30 credits included in the program. The cost of the general courses is calculated based on the number of general course credit hours taken, using in-state tuition rates.

English Composition | 6 hours
ENGL 101: Introduction to academic writing (3 credits)
ENGL 102: Writing and research about culture (3 credits)

Mathematics | 6 hours
MATH 105: Applied College Algebra* (3 credits)
Precalculus or calculus will also meet the algebra requirement.
STAT 214: Elementary Statistics (3 credits)
Psychology statistical courses may meet the statistics requirement.
Please note: MATH 105 and STAT 214 are strongly recommended. Students may choose from the General Education Curriculum list of mathematics courses in consultation with their academic advisor.

Social/Behavioral Sciences | 6 hours
PSYCH 110 or PSYCH 209: Introduction to Psychology / General Psychology 1 (3 credits)Sociology courses may meet the requirement.200/300 Level Course: 3 credit hours from the General Education Curriculum list of Social/Behavioral Science 200/300 level courses.

Natural Sciences | 16 hours
BIOL 110 or BIOL 121: Fundamentals of Biology I/Biological Principles and Issues (3 credits)
Other human biology courses may meet the above requirement.
BIOL 261: General Microbiology (3 credits)
BIOL 220: Survey of Human Anatomy and Physiology (3 credits)
BIOL 318: Advanced Human Anatomy and Physiology (4 credits)

Choose from any college-level course.

Admission Requirements

1. Possess an active, unencumbered RN license.
2. Provide proof of one of the following items:
A. An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from a regionally accredited U.S. institution that is also accredited by ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or NLN CNEA, with a GPA of 2.4 or higher in all coursework related to the ADN and any non-nursing courses that transfer into the program, or
B. Completion of a diploma program in nursing from a regionally accredited U.S. institution that is also accredited by ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or NLN CNEA, with a GPA of 2.4 or higher in all coursework and any non-nursing courses that transfer into the program. Note: Individuals with an ADN or diploma from institutions that are not ACEN or NLN CNEA accredited are not eligible for enrollment in the RN to BSN program.
3. Transcripts from every institution where you’ve received college credit.
